Privacy Policy for SEO QA: Quick Audit
Last updated:
SEO QA: Quick Audit is a browser extension provided by Martin Aberastegue (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It checks technical SEO information on web pages and displays the results in your browser.
This policy explains how the extension accesses, uses, stores, and shares information. It covers the extension itself; the website hosting this policy may have a separate privacy policy.
Information the extension accesses
On supported websites where you allow it to run, the extension automatically processes information needed for its audit features, including:
- Page URLs, including query parameters.
- Page titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, language annotations, robots directives, social metadata, and structured data.
- HTTP response headers, status codes, and redirects.
- Page HTML retrieved for comparison with the rendered page.
- Page performance measurements, including loading times, layout shifts, interaction timing, request counts, and transfer sizes.
- Files and pages relevant to an audit, such as robots.txt, llms.txt, sitemaps, and alternate-language pages.
Page content, URLs, and response headers may contain personal or sensitive information, particularly on private or signed-in websites. The extension processes this information locally to provide its audit features.
The extension does not require an account, use analytics or advertising trackers, or send audit results to a developer-operated server.
How information is used
The extension uses the information it accesses to:
- Generate and display audit findings.
- Compare raw HTML with the rendered page.
- Check response headers, redirects, crawling directives, sitemaps, and language annotations.
- Measure page performance during your visit.
- Produce reports when you choose to copy them.
- Remember your settings.
We do not sell user data, use it for advertising, or use it to build profiles for unrelated purposes.
Storage and retention
Audit information: Per-tab audit results are stored locally in the browser’s session storage and removed when the associated tab is closed. Session storage is cleared when the browser session ends.
Temporary caches: Files such as robots.txt and llms.txt may be cached in session storage. Their freshness period is 10 minutes; this is a refresh interval, not a guarantee that cached information is deleted after 10 minutes. Cached information may remain until the browser session ends.
Preferences: Settings, including display preferences and hostnames where you have hidden the widget, are saved using the browser’s extension sync storage. If browser synchronization is enabled, your browser provider may synchronize these preferences across your devices under its own privacy policy. Audit results are not stored in sync storage.
Copied reports: When you copy a value or report, it is written to your clipboard. Copies you save or share outside the extension are controlled by you and the applications you use.
Requests to websites
The extension makes requests needed to perform audits. Depending on your settings and actions, these may include requests for the current page, robots.txt, llms.txt, sitemaps, and alternate-language pages.
These requests go directly from your browser to the relevant website. Some checks may contact other domains referenced by the audited website, and requests may follow redirects.
The extension’s audit fetches omit cookies and browser authentication credentials and do not send a referrer. However, receiving websites can still see your IP address, requested URL, and ordinary connection information, and may log those requests under their own policies.
The extension does not access the browser’s cookie store. It can inspect SEO information in pages you have already opened while signed in.
External tools
The extension includes optional links to services such as Google PageSpeed Insights, Google Rich Results Test, and the Schema.org validator.
When you click one of these links, the page URL is passed to the selected service. These services operate under their own privacy policies. The extension does not automatically submit your page URL to them.
Browser permissions
The extension requests permissions to:
- Access supported websites so it can inspect page information and retrieve audit resources.
- Identify tabs and associate audit results with the correct page.
- Observe navigation changes, response headers, and redirects.
- Run its audit interface and scripts on supported pages.
- Display the audit side panel.
- Store preferences and temporary audit information.
These permissions support the extension’s audit features.
Your choices
You can:
- Disable automatic raw HTML comparisons and automatic robots.txt and llms.txt requests in the extension’s settings.
- Choose whether to run additional sitemap and alternate-language checks.
- Restrict website access through your browser’s extension controls.
- Close a tab to remove its stored per-tab audit results.
- Disable or uninstall the extension to stop further processing.
Hiding the widget changes its visibility; it does not disable background auditing or automatic requests.
Review reports before sharing them because URLs, headers, and page information may contain sensitive details.
Limited Use
SEO QA: Quick Audit’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the extension’s functionality or data practices change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
